WHO IS A LEADER

A leader is any person who influences a group of people towards the achievement of a set goal. It could be anything you are dealing with, Food vendor with work is a leader. The manager of a restaurant is a leader.

In view of the definition, a leader has several duties to perform towards the achievement of some goals .

WHAT MAKES LEADERS UNIQUE AND EASY TO DRIVE THE CROWD TO FOLLOW THEIR WORDS WITH THEIR HEART

We all want to be treated with respect and love. We all want to be important at a certain point in time but most of us forget that you treat your neighbor first with respect before you receive respect. Once you begin to value somebody that person finds it difficult to go against what makes you happy.

Some leaders in discharging their duties , become so loud and always shout at workers or followers. They are never friendly in any way which put fear in the heart of a worker. Even though it has diverse progress in yielding positive output towards the company progress, it also has a diverse effect for a follower not to do a sacrificial job for that particular leader.

For people to do you good from their heart they need to be happy with you and for that to be true, you as a leader need to humbly Yourself and respect your followers. You have to get angry when it is necessary, Shout when necessary, and Punish when necessary but not do that all the time.

As a leader, you must care for the feeling of your followers. Your followers are the reason why you are a leader and if they are not happy then your leadership is useless. In passing out policies for a better lifestyle, whenever a policy is not favoring your people, you will know. No one will tell you unless you are not a smart leader. They will start complaining, some voicing it out to you so you can have a rethink about the policy.

There are certain points in life when we think we are helping others by making certain decisions for them which turns out to be harming them rather . If we realize this early, as a smart leader You should readjust your law or policy to put smiles on your follower’s face, after all, it is their happiness your priority.

A leader must make sure he lives nobody behind. This means a leader must make sure that at least 70 percent of his followers are doing well with the set policies and laws. A leader can’t do all, For instance, a President cant help everybody in the country but at least can help about 70% and the other 30 % 20 Maybe the already rich and maybe 5 % for the disabled and the rest of the 5 % for those who refuse to think in other to get help. Some followers no matter what cannot keep up due to laziness or not being smart.

 

QUALITIES OF A BAD LEADER

There are leaders who just cant stay away from being bad leaders as their act and judges are always no conforming the normal standard of life which we want to take a look at as its also important . If we know what makes a bad leader then we will know when we find or meet or or even if we are bad leaders ourselves we will know.

  • Inability to Follow Policies set by Him/her as a leader

    . The saying that goes leadership by example is not just a saying. It really applies to life.  There was a leader who has to end up fighting one of his workers for not obeying him. For so many days in the week has misunderstandings between one or two employees. He began thinking and now has drawn a conclusion to do his things on his own. When he start obeying the policies he set and the employees weren’t following, he realized that the employees are now joining him one by one until everybody made it a hobby to obey. It is very important as a leader you obey your laws and rules first and your followers will not joke about it. As a bad leader, will never obey the rules they set for their followers and when this happens a lot of people also want to disobey as no one will complain if the leader is involved .

 

  • Feeling Pride and Vainglory: Pomposity is a danger to a growing child and when manifested into adulthood becomes a disease. Pride is the inner belief that you’re better than others And this is one of the easiest traps for leaders to fall into. When you’re heading up a successful team or organization, it’s tempting to take the credit and step into the spotlight.                                                                                                                                                                         But effective leaders must be aware of these tendencies and stay humble. Pride and vainglory can lead to a loss of respect and trust. After all, followers aren’t stupid — they can tell when they’re being used to boost another

. My-Way-or-the-Highway Mindset

People like to believe that they came into their leadership position due to their knowledge and expertise. While that may be somewhat true, it also can lead to arrogance and inflexibility. Part of being a leader is inspiring the team to greater things. Unless they have the autonomy to work out problems on their own and, yes, even make mistakes, they won’t stay motivated.

 

  • Refusing to Accept Blame: For someone to take responsibility, you first need them to buy in. Many times, I’ve seen leaders fall flat on their face, because they expected somebody to take responsibility, but it didn’t happen.When Followers are not ready to take up responsibilities ,leaders are to carry the load and make sure that if there was a mistake , they correct the mistake .

 

  • Avoiding Conflict: To be a great leader, it is necessary to engage in conflict to get things done and to move the organization forward. When people think of emotional intelligence, they often think about the kinder, gentler side of it, equating high EQ with someone who is nice and gets along with others.                                                                                                                                                                                They are not entirely wrong.Getting along with others is part of managing relationships, one of the four components of emotional intelligence defined by author of the book Emotional Intelligence known as Daniel Goleman, .There are several steps to take in order to address conflict and I will explain the important six steps her.

Here are 6 steps to prepare:

Step 1: Identify the problem.

What’s the issue in the business? How are your results affected? Are there undesired behaviors that need to change?

Step 2: Identify your desired outcome.

What is your objective for the conversation? Are you trying to put business news in context for your employees? Do you need your team to understand changes that are under way? Do you need desired behaviors to become the norm among your staff?

Step 3: Identify your audience.

Who needs to hear this information? Do you need to inform you entire staff? Is it a small group? Is it one employee? And should they all hear the message at the same time, or should some people hear it before others?

Step 4: Structure your key messages/conversation.

What will you say to employees in a calm, constructive way so they understand the situation and your concerns?

  • Consider how to start the conversation.
  • Develop specific messages or even a script to deliver the key points.
  • Identify the questions you will ask (to seek input/check for understanding). For example, “Tell me how you feel about what I just said.”
  • Have stories or examples to share to illustrate your main point.
  • Outline specific actions being taken and/or that your employees need to take.

Step 5: Deliver your message.

When it is time to deliver the message, select the right time and place to have a conversation with privacy and without distraction. Encourage dialogue so you can get real-time insight on how employees are receiving the information, what’s on their minds, and if they understand what you are saying. Allow for plenty of time to be sure they feel supported and listened to.

Step 6: Follow up.

Be sure to make yourself available to answer questions—in front of a group as well as privately. Ask what’s on their minds and listen with empathy to people’s concerns. Confirm next steps or expectations and timeline for completion, including any commitments you make to followup on their expressed concerns.
